One of my favorite things to do is embroidery. I love the way a quilt looks with embroidery on it. There are several ways to do this. One, you can make enough embroidered blocks to start piecing the blocks like any quilt with sashing in between. You put your narrow borders on and you add a wide border all around. This wide border can have embroidery on it as well,
giving a beautiful finished look. That’s what I did with my personal bed quilt. I used the Judy Nowecki embroidery design disk, Floral Elegance. I loved this quilt when it was finished and I still do now.
There is another way to make an embroidered quilt. It’s called a “Whole Cloth Quilt”. This is where you use one whole piece of cotton the size of whatever finished quilt you want, and then you put embroidery all over the fabric in whatever pattern you choose. These quilt are just as beautiful as traditional quilts.
The third way is to do just some of the blocks embroidered and the rest of the blocks done the traditional way. When this is all put together you have a beautiful and interesting one of a kind quilt. Like this cute embroidered dachshund on the corner next to standard quilt blocks.
Whatever style you like or decide to do, let your creativity go wild and you will end up with a beautiful work of fabric art.
